Easter Weekend

We had a lot of activities over the Easter weekend! On Friday Alexander had a soccer tournament, Saturday we made a trip to the Berlin Aquarium and on Sunday we went Easter Egg Hunting (almost the American style). Have a look at the pictures in our photo album!

A Busy Month!

March was really a busy month for us! Alexander not only found a new soccer team (the team is coincidentally co-coached by his dad) but also started sailing classes, Lena started swim classes. My mom came to visit us and we made trips to the Museumsinsel and the Pfaueninsel together. End of March we used a family reunion to stop at the Playmobil Funpark where we indeed had a lot of fun.

New Bikes

Lena and Alexander got new bikes last week! So we made our first ‘tour’ this Saturday. Our destination was the playground in the Stadtpark Steglitz. It was a 6km round trip with a one hour play-break and Lena was so done that she took a nap voluntarily! You will find pictures in our photo album.

While Lena had her first play date in Berlin on Sunday Alexander and I went swimming. We also enjoyed watching the Biathlon World Championships – our American friends will probably not know what Biathlon stands for – you can check it out here

And there is more good news: We found a soccer team for Alexander! His new team is the F.7 at the Lichterfelder FC. It was the last spot on the team and Alexander got it because his father agreed to help coaching the team. We already had our first practice, the first game will be in April.

Spider-Men

Wurzbach

We spent a couple of days sledding, swimming and extreme relaxing in Wurzbach. Still, I could bring myself to take some pictures - which you can find in our photo album.

Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin

We visited the Deutsche Technikmuseum Berlin today:

The museum contains many relics throughout, including an enormous railway collection, a large aircraft section which houses a Messerschmitt Bf 110, Flak cannon, Stuka and a V-1 flying bomb. The Cessna that Mathias Rust flew to Moscow during the cold war has also been added to the exhibition. [wikipedia]

It’s been a while since my last post – we were so busy with working and unpacking our stuff that there was no time to take pictures or write more than short Facebook statements. Yesterday we took a break from all of it and enjoyed a relaxed Sunday in Advent. I even found the time to take some pictures. You will find them in our photo album.

A Stroll in the park

The day began with a very annoying and unsuccessful trip to the driver license office. After that we took a stroll in the Tiergarten and stopped at Schloss Bellevue. In the afternoon we did some house hunting before we closed the day with some Bavarian specialties at the Maximilians.

Europe’s biggest mobile tubing hill: 12 m high and 70 m long. And it’s right here on the Potsdamer Platz only one U-Bahn stop from our temporary home. So Alexander took a ride. You will find photos in our photo album on www.orywall.de.

Ich bin ein Berliner

Yes I know. Nobody will ever be a Berliner unless he was born and raised in Berlin (JFK is the only exception). But the Lady at the Bezirksamt welcomed us to Berlin and told Lena that she now is a Berliner, so we take it from there. After the registration Lena and I celebrated at the Alexanderplatz and had a Currywurst for lunch at the Alex Oase. Probably a tourist trap, but Lena insisted on going to Alexanderplatz because a) she can find it on the U-Bahn map and b) because she wanted to go to Saturn again. We bought some electronic equipment there yesterday and they played a song Lena liked, so she was hoping to hear it again…
