We visited the Deutsche Technikmuseum Berlin today:
The museum contains many relics throughout, including an enormous railway collection, a large aircraft section which houses a Messerschmitt Bf 110, Flak cannon, Stuka and a V-1 flying bomb. The Cessna that Mathias Rust flew to Moscow during the cold war has also been added to the exhibition. [wikipedia]
I couldn’t help to take some pictures, you will them as a video in our photo album.
It’s been a while since my last post – we were so busy with working and unpacking our stuff that there was no time to take pictures or write more than short Facebook statements. Yesterday we took a break from all of it and enjoyed a relaxed Sunday in Advent. I even found the time to take some pictures. You will find them in our photo album.
The day began with a very annoying and unsuccessful trip to the driver license office. After that we took a stroll in the Tiergarten and stopped at Schloss Bellevue. In the afternoon we did some house hunting before we closed the day with some Bavarian specialties at the Maximilians.
Don’t forget to visit our photo album!
Europe’s biggest mobile tubing hill: 12 m high and 70 m long. And it’s right here on the Potsdamer Platz only one U-Bahn stop from our temporary home. So Alexander took a ride. You will find photos in our photo album on www.orywall.de.
Yes I know. Nobody will ever be a Berliner unless he was born and raised in Berlin (JFK is the only exception). But the Lady at the Bezirksamt welcomed us to Berlin and told Lena that she now is a Berliner, so we take it from there. After the registration Lena and I celebrated at the Alexanderplatz and had a Currywurst for lunch at the Alex Oase. Probably a tourist trap, but Lena insisted on going to Alexanderplatz because a) she can find it on the U-Bahn map and b) because she wanted to go to Saturn again. We bought some electronic equipment there yesterday and they played a song Lena liked, so she was hoping to hear it again…
As always there are some new pictures in our photo album.
We did quite some sightseeing this weekend! Brandenburg Gate and Gendarmenmarkt on Saturday and Botanical Gardens (with Halloween Celebrations) and Alexanderplatz today. You will find a couple of pictures in our Photo Album.
Hi XXX,
while the movers are doing a good job and on schedule I unfortunately have a big complaint about the hotel.
Generally spoken the hotel is not in a good shape. The table is unstable, the bathtub’s drain is clogged and there wasn’t enough dishes in our room for two much less for three. But we could live with that, not really a reason to complain (we asked for more dishes and we got additional ones).
But when we came to the hotel yesterday night they changed the door lock. As a result the whole room was covered with a fine layer of builder’s dust. Not only the kitchen and all our food (right behind the room door) but also the beds, all our luggage, the bathroom (our toothbrushes) and so on (I made a couple of pictures this morning you will find attached).
When I called the front desk I got the answer “I know (!!!!). There is nothing I can do. You can call the manager tomorrow morning at 9″. After two more calls his only solution was that we could pick up some new sheets. He wrote down my cell number and promised me a call from his manager this morning, but I have little hope in that.
I’m really upset (In fact I’m something else – even after sleeping a night over it, but that’s nothing you can put in writing). We went to the hotel to get out of the moving mess in our house and now have an even bigger mess in the hotel. I ccd XXX, maybe she can contact the hotel for a solution. The hotel seems unable and unwilling to me to put any effort in servicing their guests.

The movers have taken over the house. Two of them are working upstairs and two of them are wrapping up living room and kitchen. Photos will follow later today.
